Leadership capabilities you’ll need to navigate future challenges.

Whilst there are many lists going around citing skills and capabilities that leaders need, this week I’m going to focus just on what I consider the most critical ones to be now.

As we go through the week I’m also going to consider whether these will need to change and develop as we move forward.

The 3 abilities that I believe are most critical for leaders today are;

a) To provide certainty in uncertainty – this is all about communication.

b) To connect emotionally with yourself, your team and the wider world – this is all about emotional intelligence

c) To leverage collective wisdom – this is all about relationships and listening, to your team, your customers, suppliers and the wider world.

The prioritisation of these 3 are based on my own experience and how I’m trying to improve my leadership today, a fascinating conversation I had with Paul Dunn for the upcoming first episode of the Better World Leaders podcast, and a series of client discussions and webinars that I assented or hosted last week.
