The 4i’s of Leadership – it all begins with Imagination

Leadership begins with imagination. That’s what we believe at 4i. Start with this for example.

Imagine a world made better by your leadership. Or this, imagine the incredible achievements your team can attain as you reach your full potential as their leader. Without imagination, there is no aspiration.

Without that creative spark that imagination begins, leadership has no end game. We are simply in motion, not aiming at a great target, way off, unreachable now, but attainable longterm.

For me imagination lies at the heart of strategy, substantiated and sustained by data, planning and pragmatism, but core and integral to all great leadership.

That’s why it’s the first of the 4 I’s of 4i’s view of leadership. It all starts here.

Following from this origin, leaders then progress to ignite their own potential, and that of those they lead, to follow their imagination towards the fulfilment of their purpose. Then to immersion in knowledge, skills, building capability, ‘the how’ of leadership. Finally to inspire, providing that aspirational role model to create more great leaders.

Over the coming weeks I’ll explore each of these I’s, discussing why they are important and how you as a leader can leverage them to improve yourself and enhance those you lead
