The final Kitbag of the year – what does 2020 mean, and what have we learnt?

Welcome or welcome back to The Leaders’ Kitbag, and to this final edition of our monthly content message.

Firstly, thank you for your time and attention in receipt of Kitbag throughout 2020, or for as much of the year as you have joined this community for.

We have experimented with format and structure of this message through the year, and we are about to do so again – based on feedback we’ve received. Change is coming to Kitbag, and to 4i overall, so standby for a bright new version of this publication moving into 2021.

For the here and now, a more condensed version focusing on two areas – purpose and reflection.

I hope that if you have not had a chance to pause and reflect on the year thus far, this message may provide the impetus to do so, and for many this year, I sense the reflection will include consideration of purpose.

If neither of these topics of of interest, please standby for the resumption of Kitbag in 2021.

Either way, and most sincerely, I wish you a restful and regenerative festive season.

Be well, have a Merry Christmas, lead well and let’s look forward to building a better world together in 2021 and beyond.

Tim

Reflection.

Just one recommendation for you here, and I hope you won’t mind, but it’s for one of my articles, which was published on Medium by Illumination. There’s been much to reflect on for me at the end of this year, and in leading a reflective session with the team at 4i, the outcome of the framework we developed I hope will be of both interest and use to you. Click here to read the article on Medium (7min READ)

I’ll also give you a heads up that if reflection is of interest, keep an ear out for the upcoming special edition of Better World Leaders – What does 2020 mean, and what have we learnt – which is scheduled for broadcast wherever you listen to podcasts on 30th December. This special episode is a compilation of conversations with 3 leaders which contains some outstanding insights and advice for each of them.

Purpose

Purpose has been a major element of this year for me personally, for the team at 4i, as it has for many of our clients and as a rising tide of awareness globally.

We’ve hosted two Curated Conversations virtual forums for leaders on Purpose in the past two months, as well as run ‘Powered by Purpose’ programs for several of our clients.

Here’s a few of the key resources we’ve found most beneficial as we’ve explored these topics with leaders and teams;

The Business Case for Purpose, by EY (15min READ)

The Art & Science of Defining Purpose, by Kirstin Hunter, who keynoted our second Curated Conversation of Purposeful Leadership (5min READ)

The What, Why & How of Purpose, a guide for Leaders – by Chartered Institute of Managers UK (20min READ)

Rewiring Leadership – by University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (25min READ)
